Kristin combines a career of teaching and serving with her passion for creating mutually respectful environments for families, children, classrooms and schools.
In her collaboration with teachers, administrations and families, this Sandy Hook, CT native's goal is to help facilitate opportunities for adults and students to become authoritative leaders, with the hope that doing so will help build more equitable communities in Chicago and the world.
Kristin is a committed educator with over a decade of experience in vocational, adult education. She served as both Education Director (2007-2008) and Adjunct Faculty Member (2006-2017.) She employed the Positive Discipline Approach and Authoritative Mindset to lead her classroom of up to 54 students, with the majority of her students aged 18-25 recent Chicago Public School graduates.
Kristin recently authored Our Brain Book, a rhyming children's picture book combining education about anatomy, self-regulation, and how our brains work in relationships.
This is an online interactive workshop designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to:
- Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches.
- Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures.
- Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect.
- Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change.
- Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving.
- Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community.
Cost: $375 Early Registration, available until 07/06/2020. $425 Regular Registration. Registration rate of $325 for SEL Chicago affiliates., including employees of Chicago Public Schools. Limit 5.

The Positive Discipline Association is pleased to provide the opportunity for educators to earn graduate-level university credit. Whether you attend one of our live workshops or participate in an online workshop, you may choose to earn 1 to 4 non-degree credits. Positive Discipline Association courses approved for Graduate-Level Semester Credits through University of the Pacific will appear on an Official Transcript with a letter grade.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop.
In the event of cancellation, participants will be notified by email.
