Colleen has a joyful and sassy daughter who's 15 and a quiet and introspective son who's 19. Both have pushed her to grow as they launch into the next phase of their young lives. 

    Workshop Description:

Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to: 

    1. Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches. 
    2. Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures. 
    3. Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect. 
    4. Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change. 
    5. Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving. 
    6. Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community. 
    7. Gain information on how to address the effects of childhood trauma and insecure attachment.

    Julie Iraninejad, M.Ed. is a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator, a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator, and a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer who trains Parent Educators and Classroom Teachers for the Positive Discipline Association. Julie has a Masters of Education in Montessori/Early Childhood Education and has many years of teaching experience. She holds current teaching certificates in early childhood education, elementary education, and bilingual education, as well as Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diplomas in Infancy and Primary Montessori. She is a Virtues Project Facilitator and has helped encourage and empower families and communities in character education for fifteen years.     Workshop Description: 
    Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way (developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) is a research-based parent education program that provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups. This program stands alone or offers significant enhancement to any program. It provides experiential activities that reach the heart to inspire deeper understanding and change. 

    Participants in this workshop will: 

    1. Learn research based effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to use discipline that is kindand firm at the same time (non-punitive, non-permissive). 
    2. Learn how to facilitate a parent class from the position of a non-expert. 
    3. Gain practice with experiential exercises that help parents go beyond intellectual understanding to be able to respond in empowering ways that teach children. 
    4. Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes and individual work with families

    Cost: $375 early registration, available until March 14, 2018. $425 regular registration. 3 or more registering together, take $40 off each fee.

    1. Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches. 
    2. Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures. 
    3. Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect. 
    4. Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change. 
    5. Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving. 
    6. Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community. 
    7. Gain information on how to address the effects of childhood trauma and insecure attachment.
