Talin Yesaie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) who has been working in the San Diego area for about 15 years, helping children, at risk teenagers and families meet their goals. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development which included study in biology, psychology and social studies. Her undergraduate practicum included research on aggression with preschool children, co-directed a mentoring program for middle school children and a Peer Counselor in the advising department. She received a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego where she completed her practicum at Rady Children's Hospital in their outpatient Psychiatry department as a therapist working with children and their families.
Talin has worked in the community, in school and homes with at risk children to either prevent removal from the home or help them transition back with their families. Currently she is the Therapeutic Program Manager at a school for children in grades K-12 with need additional support to meet their academic and therapeutic goals. She has developed trainings in the areas of Positive Discipline, trauma, school based inventions and creating a trauma informed school.
Aisha Pope is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has been working in the San Diego area for nearly 15 years. She graduated with a Bachelors Degree in psychology from California State University Dominguez Hills and then received a Masters in Social Work from San Diego State University, with an emphasis in Mental Health, and additional coursework to satisfy the requirements for an emphasis in Children, Youth, and Families. Aisha has provided therapeutic services in a variety of settings including outpatient, inpatient, residential, community based, home based, and Skype. She has worked as a clinical supervisor to therapy interns providing individual, group, and family counseling in adult and child focused facilities. She has taught parent training courses to foster parents entering into specialized foster care with severely at risk youth, and teaches Positive Discipline Parenting Classes, and Positive Discipline for Parenting Through Divorce.
Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way (developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) is a research-based parent education program that provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups. This program stands alone or offers significant enhancement to any program. It provides experiential activities that reach the heart to inspire deeper understanding and change.
Participants in this workshop will:
- Learn research based effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to use discipline that is kindand firm at the same time (non-punitive, non-permissive).
- Learn how to facilitate a parent class from the position of a non-expert.
- Gain practice with experiential exercises that help parents go beyond intellectual understanding to be able to respond in empowering ways that teach children.
- Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes and individual work with families
Cost: $375 early registration, available until March 1, 2018. $425 regular registration. Four (4) or more registering together take $50 off the fee. Limit 40.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop.
