Facilitator Information: 
As Director of Program at Sound Discipline, Stacy holds the vision for this work, believing deeply in its power to change the world one educator, one student, one classroom, one school at a time. In addition to direct service professional development, coaching, and consultation, Stacy works to create new resources for transformation in schools and to lead Sound Discipline facilitators in their journey. 

Stacy clearly sees the systems challenges in schools and is committed to supporting educators who want to make a difference but don't know a way out of the "system". Over the years, Stacy has come to understand that the work of Sound Discipline is not simply about intervening to fix a broken system. Rather, we are disrupting a system that in fact is doing precisely what it was designed to do: create division and oppression. By giving adults tools for being in relationship with each other, self-awareness and support, this work can create peace and dignity for all students and challenge deep inequities in our communities. 

For Stacy, this work has shaped how she sees the world and how she interacts with everyone in her personal and professional life. She is deeply grateful for the transformational impact it has had on her relationships with her three children. This experience has fueled her passion for teaching parenting classes, which she has done for the last 14 years in a variety of settings ranging from co-op preschools, and elementary schools to homeless and court-ordered families and families in transition housing. She believes deeply that every parent is doing the best they can with the tools they have, and sees that when we offer parents new tools in a respectful way, we help them change the way they show up for their children and powerful things can happen.

Workshop Description:  This two-day interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to: 

  1. Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches. 
  2. Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures. 
  3. Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect. 
  4. Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change. 
  5. Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving. 
  6. Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community. 

Cost: $375 Early Registration, available until 09/10/2019. $425 Regular Registration. Limit 30.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop. 

In the event of cancellation, participants will be notified by email.
