Facilitator Information: 
Tammy Keces is the founding Head of School at Irvine Hebrew Day School, a K-8 grade progressive Jewish day school located in Santa Ana, California. Tammy is currently receiving her doctorate in Educational Leadership at California State University Fullerton where she is currently writing her dissertation on how educator social-emotional and cultural competencies affect student SEL. She received her MA in Curriculum and Instruction at Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BA in Psychology from UCLA. As a Positive Discipline trainer, Tammy has consulted with charter, private, and public schools on the implementation of Positive Discipline. Tammy wrote the forward to Positive Discipline Tools for Teachers and has been featured in several other Positive Discipline publications.

Workshop Description:  This two-day interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to: 

  1. Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches. 
  2. Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures. 
  3. Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect. 
  4. Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change. 
  5. Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving. 
  6. Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community. 

Additional Information:
This session will be IN PERSON. session. The 5-acre campus and large room setting will be following CDC guidelines for this session. All participants will be required to socially distance. The school plans to re-open in August. In the event that the workshop can not be in person, the format will be moved to a remote. A hybrid will not be offered. Tammy and her educational staff have been successfully implementing Positive Discipline while working in our Remote Learning format. For educators who may be teaching remotely, this session will also include strategies of how to implement Positive Discipline and create a community of belonging during remote learning. 

Cost: $375 Early Registration, available until 07/13/2020. $425 Regular Registration.  No Group Discount. Limit 16 participants.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop. 

In the event of cancellation, participants will be notified by email.
