Facilitator Information:
Hamida Elemam is an communication engineer , when she became a mother and found the way of positive discipline she found her desire to help others so she obtained the certificate of Positive Discipline Educator and she presented a lot of workshops of the Positive Discipline Way for Parenting then became a candidate trainer in order to help more people by spreading the positive discipline and now she is a professional trainer . Also she obtained the certificate of positive in classroom in order to help children teaching them the character building and she already taught a lot of workshops offline and online for kids from different ages. She gained also the certificate of Empowering People in the Workplace and she helped her to teach and train a lot of teams and specially some teams inside the company that she works in as an engineer and she found the effect of that in a large scale. Hamida's passion is teaching so she also took the certificate to become Practitioner of the training of "Training from the back of the room" to involve the newest way in her training , also she presents coaching sessions one to one as Encouragement Consultant and APG Practitioner. Mainly, she is human that loves humanity and is a mother of 3 (2 daughters and 1 Son ).
Noha Alshugairi received her PhD in Islamic Studies from Graduate Theological Foundation, her M.S. in Counseling from California State University, Fullerton, and her B.A. in Zoology from Rutgers University. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in California. She strongly believes in the power of an encouraging therapeutic relationship to effect change.
As a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer, she conducts parenting classes on a regular basis and in her practice, she utilizes Positive Discipline to help parents and children have a better connected relationship. She frequently lectures on issues related to women, the family, and mental health. Noha is the co-author with Munira Ezzeldine of the book "Positive Parenting the Muslim Home." She has been married for 39 years, has 4 grown children, and 7 grandchildren.
Workshop Description:
Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way (developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) is a research-based parent education program that provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups. This program stands alone or offers significant enhancement to any program. It provides experiential activities that reach the heart to inspire deeper understanding and change.
Participants in this workshop will:
- Learn research based effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to use discipline that is kind and firm at the same time (non-punitive, non-permissive).
- Learn how to facilitate a parent class from the position of a non-expert.
- Gain practice with experiential exercises that help parents go beyond intellectual understanding to be able to respond in empowering ways that teach children.
- Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes and individual work with families.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop.
In the event of cancellation, participants will be notified by email.
