This session moves beyond traditional caregiving to explore the "Social Architecture of Aging." Grounded in Alfred Adler’s concept of Gemeinschaftsgefühl (Social Interest), Positive Discipline, and Montessori’s focus on the "Prepared Environment," this workshop prepares the caregiver as an architect of dignity. By centering care around the Adlerian Life Tasks, participants will learn to move from "doing for" a senior to "power with" a senior, fostering the autonomy and mental longevity required for a meaningful life.

Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2026

Time: 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM (Eastern time)

Format: Online via Zoom

Presenter: Yogi Patel, CPDT
Language: English

Educational Objectives

  • Identify the "Helplessness Trap": Understand the research behind how over-functioning for seniors accelerates cognitive decline and disrupts the Life Task of Self.
  • Master Sensory Scaffolding: Learn non-verbal techniques to de-escalate resistance and promote cooperation through the environment, rebuilding the bridge to the Life Task of Society.
  • Reconstruct Life Tasks through Contribution: Design "Legacy Rituals" that shift a senior’s role from "care recipient" to "contributing consultant," effectively re-engaging them in the Life Tasks of Work (Contribution) and Society.

Register now to secure your spot and receive the Zoom link for the live event. The event recording will be available in English only to registered participants approximately 3 business days after the event.
